    Dentist Near Prices Corner, DE

Prices Corner is the retail junction of western New Castle County: Kirkwood Highway (Route 2) meeting Centre Road (Route 141), with Newport Gap Pike (Route 41) tying in beside it. Gawlas Family Dental is about a mile from that junction, on Milltown Road, offering general, cosmetic, restorative, preventive, and emergency care.

A mile does not sound like much. Anyone who shops, works, or commutes through this corner knows it can be the slowest mile of the day. So this page is mostly about traffic — which way to come, and when.

The short version: the office is northwest of the shopping centers, off the main retail run, with its own free lot. No circling for a space, no waiting on a light to leave.

An Independent Practice Beside the Prices Corner Corridor

Gawlas Family Dental has served patients under its current ownership since 2021, when Dr. Matthew Gawlas purchased the practice from Dr. Todd Rowen. Dr. Rowen had already spent approximately 40 years caring for patients at this location, and nearly the entire team remained with the practice through the transition.

That continuity matters to patients who want to know the people providing their care. Dr. Gawlas has family ties to the area and is raising four children close to their grandparents.

Many of our patients want an independent dental practice where decisions about care are made by their dentist rather than a large corporate chain. Gawlas Family Dental is a member of the Independent Dental Society of Delaware, a group of independent dentists working to keep quality dental care accessible and affordable.

You can fold a cleaning, a crown, or an urgent problem into the same errand loop you already run through this corridor, without a referral across town for each one.

Driving From Prices Corner Without Fighting the Traffic

    Gawlas Family Dental
    25 Milltown Road
    Wilmington, DE 19808

The direct way: from Prices Corner Shopping Center, take Kirkwood Highway west a short distance, turn north onto Newport Gap Pike (Route 41), then turn onto Milltown Road. About 1.1 miles door to door — three or four minutes when the lights cooperate, noticeably longer when they do not.

The way around the junction: if you are starting from the Centre Road (Route 141) side, Greenbank Road runs west from Centerville Road over to Newport Gap Pike and puts you on Milltown Road without ever entering the Kirkwood Highway and Route 141 intersection. It looks longer on a map. It frequently is not.

When to come: this junction is busiest at weekday commuter peaks and again on weekend and holiday shopping afternoons, when Target, Walmart, JCPenney, and the grocery anchors are all pulling cars through the same lights. We see patients Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and a mid-morning or early-afternoon slot is a genuinely different drive from 4:45 p.m.

If you park and ride: the DART Park & Ride at 1308 Centerville Road, near Old Capitol Trail, is a few minutes from us by car. Patients who leave a vehicle there and bus into Wilmington often book on a day they are not commuting.

Parking here is free, on site, and includes handicap-accessible spaces.

Patients From the Prices Corner Area

The corner has been a commercial anchor since the shopping center opened in 1962, and the people we see from it reflect that. A meaningful share work in the corridor — retail, restaurants, banks, service counters — on schedules that make a 5:00 p.m. appointment across the county impossible. Being a mile away means a visit fits inside a shift change rather than requiring a day off.

Another group lives in the residential streets that sit behind the storefronts, on the Centre Road and Greenbank Road side, and would rather not join the through-traffic at all. For them the appeal is that our block is quiet even when Kirkwood Highway is not.

Then there are the errand-stackers: patients who genuinely do schedule a cleaning against a grocery run because both are on the same mile of road. We are happy to be part of that loop. We see children, adults, and seniors, and we keep room in the schedule for people who wake up with a problem.

Dental Care for Patients Without Insurance

Gawlas Family Dental offers the Smile 365 Dental Discount Plan for qualifying patients without dental insurance. The plan provides included preventive services and reduced fees on additional eligible care for an annual membership fee.

Smile 365 is a dental discount plan rather than insurance. There are no yearly maximums, deductibles, claim forms, preauthorizations, preexisting-condition limitations, or waiting periods. Please review current plan terms and eligibility with our office before enrolling.

We currently accept Aetna Extend, United Concordia, and Delaware Children’s Medicaid, along with all standard forms of payment. Because insurance participation can change, contact the office to confirm current acceptance and coverage before scheduling treatment.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How far is the office from Prices Corner Shopping Center?

Roughly 1.1 miles by car. The usual route is Kirkwood Highway west, north on Newport Gap Pike (Route 41), then onto Milltown Road at 25 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Is there a route that avoids the Kirkwood Highway and Route 141 intersection?

Yes. Greenbank Road connects Centerville Road across to Newport Gap Pike, and from there it is a short hop onto Milltown Road. That path bypasses the main junction completely.

What time of day is the drive easiest?

Mid-morning to early afternoon on a weekday. The corridor is heaviest during commuter peaks and on weekend shopping afternoons. Our hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., so a 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. slot is usually the smoothest trip.

Do I need to find parking in a shopping center lot?

No. We are not in a retail center. The practice has its own free lot at the building, with handicap-accessible spaces, so you park once and walk in.

Is parking available at the dental office?

Yes. Gawlas Family Dental has a free on-site parking lot for patients, including handicap-accessible parking.

Can I call the office for a dental emergency?

Yes. Call the office immediately if you are experiencing a dental emergency. We try to reserve room in our schedule for urgent needs and will make every reasonable effort to see you as soon as possible.

Does Gawlas Family Dental offer a membership plan?

Yes. The Smile 365 Dental Discount Plan helps qualifying patients without dental insurance receive included preventive care and save on additional eligible services. Contact the office for current pricing and complete plan terms.
