    Dentist Near Greenville, DE

Gawlas Family Dental serves patients from Greenville and the 19807 area out of a family-owned office at 25 Milltown Road in Wilmington — roughly a twelve-minute drive, entirely on suburban roads, with no trip through the city.

Greenville and this office belong to two different corridors. Greenville is strung along Kennett Pike, the old turnpike that runs north out of Wilmington toward Pennsylvania through what people around here still call chateau country. We are on the Kirkwood Highway side, west of Prices Corner. Route 141 is the road that stitches those two corridors together, and it does nearly all the work of the drive.

We provide preventive care, fillings and crowns, cosmetic treatment, and same-week attention when something breaks or starts to ache, for patients from young children through retirement.

A Long-Established Office a Short Drive From Kennett Pike

Gawlas Family Dental has served patients under its current ownership since 2021, when Dr. Matthew Gawlas purchased the practice from Dr. Todd Rowen. Dr. Rowen had already spent approximately 40 years caring for patients at this location, and nearly the entire team remained with the practice through the transition.

That continuity matters to patients who want to know the people providing their care. Dr. Gawlas has family ties to the area and is raising four children close to their grandparents.

Many of our patients want an independent dental practice where decisions about care are made by their dentist rather than a large corporate chain. Gawlas Family Dental is a member of the Independent Dental Society of Delaware, a group of independent dentists working to keep quality dental care accessible and affordable.

For Greenville patients, the practical benefit is range: a hygiene appointment, a cosmetic consultation, and a repair to an old restoration are all handled here rather than parceled out to three different offices.

    Getting Here From Greenville

    Gawlas Family Dental
    25 Milltown Road
    Wilmington, DE 19808

The direct route: from Kennett Pike, get onto Route 141 at the Barley Mill Road interchange and head south. Route 141 becomes Centre Road and runs a little over two miles down to Kirkwood Highway at Prices Corner. Cross to Kirkwood Highway, go a short distance west, then turn north onto Newport Gap Pike (Route 41). Milltown Road is the next turn, and we are just off the corner.

From the Centreville end of the corridor: there is a back-roads version that never touches Kirkwood Highway. Campbell Road connects to Centerville Road, which drops south to Lancaster Pike; from Lancaster Pike, Newport Gap Pike runs south to Milltown Road. It reads longer on a map and takes a couple of extra minutes, but the drive is quieter and it skips Prices Corner completely.

When to come: the pinch point on the direct route is Route 141 between Barley Mill Road and Prices Corner, which carries commuter traffic morning and late afternoon. Booking away from those windows makes a real difference. We see patients Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Parking is free and on site, with handicap-accessible spaces — no garage, no meter, no walk.

    The Greenville Patients We See

Greenville itself is small — a little over 3,000 residents inside roughly three square miles — but the Kennett Pike corridor pulls in far more people than live along it. Greenville Center, Powder Mill Square across the road, and Greenville Crossing are where a good portion of the surrounding area does its errands, and Kennett Pike is also the spine of the Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway, with Winterthur and Hagley within a few minutes’ drive.

The road has an unusual history that residents tend to know: it was built as a private turnpike between 1811 and 1813, bought outright by Pierre S. du Pont in 1919, widened and paved at his expense, and then sold to the State of Delaware for one dollar.

Our Greenville patients are mostly households with children in the Red Clay schools clustered along that same corridor — Alexis I. duPont Middle School at 3130 Kennett Pike, which was the high school’s original home, and Alexis I. duPont High School on Hillside Road — along with working adults who want a dentist they can reach without committing to downtown parking. What we hear most often from this part of the county is a preference for a practice that is owned by the dentist who treats you, rather than by a group with a regional office somewhere else.

Dental Care for Patients Without Insurance

Gawlas Family Dental offers the Smile 365 Dental Discount Plan for qualifying patients without dental insurance. The plan provides included preventive services and reduced fees on additional eligible care for an annual membership fee.

Smile 365 is a dental discount plan rather than insurance. There are no yearly maximums, deductibles, claim forms, preauthorizations, preexisting-condition limitations, or waiting periods. Please review current plan terms and eligibility with our office before enrolling.

We currently accept Aetna Extend, United Concordia, and Delaware Children’s Medicaid, along with all standard forms of payment. Because insurance participation can change, contact the office to confirm current acceptance and coverage before scheduling treatment.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How far is the office from Greenville?

Roughly twelve minutes in ordinary traffic. The office is at 25 Milltown Road in Wilmington’s 19808 ZIP code, southwest of Greenville on the far side of Route 141.

What is the simplest way to drive it?

Pick up Route 141 at the Barley Mill Road interchange off Kennett Pike and follow it south as Centre Road to Kirkwood Highway at Prices Corner. From there it is a short stretch west, north onto Newport Gap Pike, and a turn onto Milltown Road.

Is there a route that avoids Kirkwood Highway?

Yes, and it is worth knowing if you are at the Centreville end. Campbell Road to Centerville Road brings you down to Lancaster Pike, and Newport Gap Pike carries you south to Milltown Road from there. It costs a few extra minutes and avoids the Prices Corner intersection.

Do you treat adults and children in the same family?

Yes. We see patients of every age, which lets Greenville families schedule siblings, parents, and grandparents through one office instead of coordinating between a pediatric practice and an adult one.

Is parking available at the dental office?

Yes. Gawlas Family Dental has a free on-site parking lot for patients, including handicap-accessible parking.

Can I call the office for a dental emergency?

Yes. Call the office immediately if you are experiencing a dental emergency. We try to reserve room in our schedule for urgent needs and will make every reasonable effort to see you as soon as possible.

Does Gawlas Family Dental offer a membership plan?

Yes. The Smile 365 Dental Discount Plan helps qualifying patients without dental insurance receive included preventive care and save on additional eligible services. Contact the office for current pricing and complete plan terms.
