Dr. Matthew Gawlas, DMD

Early Inspiration

Dr. Gawlas knew from a rather young age that he wanted to be a dentist. He himself spent many hours in the chair as a child and saw the difference a happy and healthy smile made for him. He wanted to give that same feeling to others, confidence in smiling.

Dr. Gawlas is an advocate for his patients, making them healthier and happier as he maintains and restores their oral health which directly affects their overall wellbeing. In doing such, Dr. Gawlas performs thorough exams and gets to know all aspects about his patients and their medical history to ensure he is offering his patients the optimum care possible.

Dr. Gawlas spent his first 5 years practicing in Denver, CO. Dr Gawlas had his first taste of ownership in 2015 when he opened a practice in the Denver suburbs of Arvada. He and his wife Maggie are avid skiers and outdoor enthusiasts, so they thoroughly enjoyed everything the Rocky Mountains had to offer. As much as they loved Colorado, all their family resides in DE and PA, and in 2018, with baby #2 on the way, they decided to move back east. Dr. Gawlas has been practicing in DE since then and in May of 2021 he purchased the practice from Dr Rowen. He truly embraces the family practice legacy that Dr Rowen has created over the years and will continue to keep

As a father of 4 girls, Dr. G puts a strong emphasis on family. From beaches to lakes, soccer fields to dance recitals, much of his time outside the office is spent with his crew! He loves to travel, cook, and passionately enjoys all things sports. He is excited to get to know each and every patient that chooses Gawlas Family Dental to be their dental home and will treat you as if you were part of the family.

Dr Gawlas graduated Summa Cum Laude from Susquehanna University with a major in Biology and a minor in Business Administration. He was a 4 year letter winner on the men’s soccer team and captain his junior and senior years. He graduated Cum Laude from Temple’s Dental School and continues his journey with countless hours of continuing education every year. He is a member of the Delaware State Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
